The Head and Intake

The head and intake play a huge roll in how efficient and how  your engine is going to behave and make power. Since I was going to be running a 2040cc (2.0L) engine, Head Porting was detrimental to a properly running engine. I was also going to need larger valves and stronger valve train.

I chose to use Portflow for my head porting. I had Earl Laskey (www.LaskeyRacing.com) take my head to get done (he gets a better price than going directly to Portflow. They did a full port & polish of the intake and exhaust runners, De-shrouded the chambers, Installed .5mm oversized Supertech valves, Supertech springs and Supertech Ti. Retainers.

I'm sorry, But I do not have any pictures of the head to show the quality of the work they did.

While I was looking for a good intake manifold  to use, I ran across the Endyn/AIR Carbon Fiber Intake Manifold:

The Endyn/AIR Carbon Fiber Intake Manifold has a very large plenum and smooth transitions from the plenum to the intake runners. This is one of the best flowing intake manifolds ever produced for the B-Series engine. Another side benefit of running a carbon fiber intake, it the carbon fiber itself. It does not conduct or retain heat like an aluminum manifold would. That's why they use the same material to make the intake manifolds on Formula 1 cars. Not to mention, the intake manifold only weighs 3 pounds. I was amazed the first time I picked it up how light it is.

Sadly this manifold has been discontinued dew to high manufacturing cost and lack of a large market.
